However, it comes with a different set of challenges that you face when carrying a sub-compact or compact handgun. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways you can carry concealed. While no CCW position is truly perfect, here are the pros and cons of each, including how to carry a Glock 17.
Glock 17 Gen 5 Tlr 7/7a/8/8a Iwb Holsters
Pocket carry is the most popular way to carry smaller handguns such as .380 semi-autos or .38 snub nose revolvers. In fact, this CCW position is so prominent that most gun manufacturers make pocket guns. This is a very discreet method of dressing and is ideal for those who keep their shirts tucked in.
While it's great for a quick run to the store if you want to avoid the hassle of attaching a gun and holster to your belt, there are some downsides. You can only access your weapon with your dominant hand and it only works for very small guns, so it's not exactly operable for the Glock 17. It can also move as you move, making the draw more complicated and increasing the chance of pressure.
Cons: Only suitable for small guns, can only have access with dominant hand, concealment can vary, gun can move.
This is generally a good alternative to a belt holster, as long as you wear a jacket. This gives you easy access to your weapon and mostly puts it out of the way as you go about your day. It is also great to carry two extra magazines or speed loaders to balance the weight of the handgun.

However, it is not for everyone. Because it needs a jacket or coat to stay hidden, it is only an appropriate choice in autumn or winter. But then the barrel can poke the back of your jacket or the grip can push out the front. Also, if you're not used to underarm draws, you may rush or have a hard time drawing your gun under pressure.
Held in a holster wrapped around the lower calf above the ankle, it's a good choice for those who don't wear a jacket and need to keep their shirt tucked in. However, this is really only recommended for backup guns and not for primary weapons.
It is noticeably awkward and virtually impossible to carry a larger firearm like a Glock 17. It is also awkward to reach and you have to kneel down, pull up your pant legs and unholster if you want to draw. For these reasons, it is probably better for your backup weapon.
Probably one of the most comfortable CCW positions, it is very popular with concealed carry enthusiasts. It is also incredibly fast to draw your weapon, but only with your dominant hand. While OWB is generally better for full-sized handguns, it's also one of the most obvious places to carry a gun, so it's probably one of the first places to check.

You will be more comfortable, but you also usually need a light jacket or coat to prevent printing. It's definitely an option if you want to conceal a Glock 17, but it's still not the best CCW position for your Glock.
It is also one of the most comfortable ways to carry concealed. This is probably the most natural and popular way to carry a gun. This is a great way to carry a full size pistol like the Glock 17. Especially if your holster has a front side. This allows you to conceal the pistol grip which is the most difficult part of the pistol to conceal. The forward tilt moves the pistol grip forward so that the grip can be placed against your side rather than sticking out like your thumb. Drawing the gun with your non-dominant hand can be difficult, but it is possible with practice.
Comfort is very good, but usually also requires a shirt, jacket or button-up coat for maximum concealment. Definitely a good choice if you want to carry a G17.
Pros: Quick and easy to draw, very comfortable to carry, allows you to carry a full size rifle.

This CCW method is called the Appendix carry or the Appendix position because it is kept in a holster in front of your waist on your appendix, and this CCW method allows you to easily access your weapon with either hand. You can also draw it while sitting or standing. The biggest advantage of the IWB is that you only have to hide the handle or the grip of the gun, instead of the whole thing.
If you're wondering how to conceal a Glock 17 in pants and a button, an IWB offers the best concealment. A smooth holster in the pants hides most of the pants while your shirt easily covers the grip. If you have the right IWB holster, this is one of the most convenient ways to carry a Glock 17.
Pros: Easily accessible while standing or sitting, accessible with both hands, good concealment, good for full size firearms.
Disadvantages: Requires a large shirt to reduce pressure, direct on your groin and not the most comfortable when sitting.

The usual response to someone asking a man about his gun is this; It's a Glock 17, chambered in 9mm and I've put several thousand rounds through it. While these are true statements, they were not the answer Kyle was looking for.
